This is the final image from my early July sunset series. This image was made on the same day as Pink Wave and Candy-Floss Skies. I simply traveled north a bit further up the road. By then, the bright pink billows had subsided and a more typical sunset took their place.

Once more, I realized that this is scenery that I drive through on a regular basis, catching glimpses of the details of the countryside. It’s not until I stop and compose a photo that I truly realize just how wonderful this area is. Looking beyond the hay bales that first caught my interest, as well as the beautiful sky, the distant details of local farm buildings emerge near the horizon, as well as yet another field filled with hay bales.

The title for the image comes from a bend in the road, not visible in the image, but directly between the cornfield and hay bale field behind it. I’ve driven this road hundreds of times and never fully appreciated just how beautiful the scenery is. In fact, I just drove this stretch of road yesterday and had trouble piecing this scene together. What a difference a few steps off the road can make.
