About

I am a professional fine art photographer based in Stouffville, Ontario. Though I have actively been making photographs for many years, the acquisition of my first DSLR camera a few years ago has opened up new creative channels.
My photography focuses primarily on nature and landscapes, though I have ventured into the world of abstraction, architecture, portraiture, and street photography. To me, photography is the art of communicating the feeling an object or scene invokes for me, deliberately. It’s about finding beautiful things in ordinary places. My photography has very little to do with what I see and everything to do with how I see them as well as how they make me feel. Call me a photographic impressionist, if you will. I want people to look at my photos and sense the experience I had when making them.
Lately, my focus has been on pursuing the art of photographic abstractions, using lighting, motion, and strong vertical elements to create several distinct series of photographs.
My photos have been featured in magazine articles, web sites, and brochures.
Since 2017, I have been a member of the Stouffville Studio Tour, an annual showcase of local artists, which allows me to showcase and sell my photos in a curated environment and connect to other artists in my region.
My intent, through blogging, is to share my photographs with a broader audience and be able to share, in words, some of my thoughts about the experience that goes along with the actual photo.
I hope you enjoy your visits to my website and recognize that all the photos are available in various sizes for purchase. Your support through purchases enables me to keep my equipment in good order and affords more opportunity to advance my passion.
Hi Ed, Thank you for following my photography blog, Jane’s Lens. I hope you enjoy my work. You have a terrific blog.
Thanks Jane, I’m enjoying your photos as well.
Wow! Had a look at some of your photography and it’s really great! Keep up the good work!
Thank you.
Hi Ed. Thank you for following my blog. I am definitely no photographer but I hope my photos catches the mood and the memory of the places I’ve been. I look forward to exploring your blog.

I’d love to travel more, but your blog makes up nicely for it. Looking forward to teh journey.
Ed, Thank you for following my blog.
At the moment, I’m taking a hiatus from shooting for a few months.
Look forward to picking up where I left off in the near future.
How are your projects coming along??
I’ve made a self-imposed commitment to post one image per day. That has been ‘interesting’ as weather conditions have been a challenge, yet it pushes me to continually create and refine. Looking forward to browsing through your images as time allows.
Thanks for stopping by and deciding to follow my blog. I have not been doing a lot of personal photography lately. Life just gets busy elsewhere and takes away from my photo time. I enjoyed looking at your work. It is fun exploring a lot of different types of photography. I have been doing more black and white shots lately myself. Keep up the good work. Best Wishes!
Thanks, I enjoyed browsing through many of your images and like your style. I’m a bit of a photo opportunist and tend to make images of whatever grabs my attention focussing on sharing the ‘subtleties’ most people miss when looking at common scenes. Best to you as well.

You wrote: ‘about the experience that goes along with actual photo’…yes indeed, that small world of magic that is ever expanding. Kindred spirits.
Thank you. I find that reflection on the experience improves the next opportunity. It’s a journey of learning and sensing.
Thank you for liking my post. I am definitely not a photographer, especially when I use my little flip-phone as I did for those pictures. Your pictures are beautiful!
Thank you. Your post was inspiring to me. I often emmerse myself in trees.
Love your presentation of flower images, very nicely done with the black contrast!
Thank you

Your images are truly lovely and I’ve enjoyed spending time wandering through your ‘gallery’. Thanks for sharing your work.

Hello Ed, I am pleased that you found the blog where I write about Photography. I discuss a different subject each week.
Now that I know about you I will be wandering your site looking at the images you post and reading your thoughts regarding the subjects you choose to photograph.
Nice to be in contact.
I found your blog through Belinda Grover. Always nice to expand connections. I post daily, it’s a way to force me to write and think more deliberately about my photos.
Thats great Ed. I’ll look forward to your posts.
I did write a bit about myself. If you are interested in the “About” section on my blog page.
I keep telling myself to purchase a “good” camera to take the shots I see in my gardening business, but have not yet. I am still using my cell phone camera LOL
It’s pretty amazing what a cell phone can do with good light.
some are not too bad, but I always wonder how much better they could be
Good work here. Sensitive. I love your treatment of the Rainbow Trout.
Thank you for taking the time to visit http://www.rivenrod.com. Much appreciated.

Congrats are being accepted into the 2017 Stouffville Studio Tour. How long does it last?
Only one weekend. October 14-15
Hope you have a grand time and lots of visitors.
I’m humbled that you noticed my amateur photography blog, and grateful since I now have found your gorgeous photos. Even if they do make me feel like I ought to hang up the camera and just enjoy other people’s offerings.
Thanks Sue. You have beautiful images. Don’t ever hang that camera up. We all start somewhere and your photos are wonderful.
Well, gee, thanks!
Hi Ed, Amy from Bedlam and Daisies sent me the link to your site, because we were discussing Iceland. I was there for a month last year, a life changing experience. I look forward to seeing your photos! Erica
Hi Erica, thanks for the follow. I was there with my son in late October for 10 days and have been journaling my experiences since then. Enjoy the photos and the stories behind them.
Hi Ed, We were there in June 2017 and took 1000,s of photos. We definitely want to go back, possibly a different time of year. I will try to send you a link of a story I wrote about our trip that was posted in an Iceland magazine. You may be interested.
