“Every now and then, a composition that cannot be ignored presents itself” – Ed Lehming

I made this image a few days ago while on my evening walk. I’ve been watching this cluster of Echinacea develop over the past few days and then suddenly “pop.” What amazed me was that they remained almost pristine, with the exception of a few insect holes in their leaves; the flowers themselves were almost perfect. So much so that they look almost artificial. Had I not seen them myself, I would have been a bit dubious about the authenticity of the image. But they are real and remained that way for several days after the photo was made.

I’m happy to see this in nature. It reminds me that as a society, we don’t need artificial or AI-created images when often that pristine state actually exists in nature.

I was also blessed with really nice pre-dusk light, and the composition pretty much created itself.
