I made this image simply because I thought it was interesting. The graffiti, which covers the entire building does not seem haphazard, there is a structure to it, not random “tagging”.

At the time, I did not know that this building is fairly famous here in Porto, due to the grafitti. Apparently, it is an homage to a form of Brazilian street art called pixação, an aggressive form of street art that began in São Paulo, Brazil, in the 1980s and has transferred to urban centres in Portugal.

Since coming to Europe several years ago, I have noticed that graffiti/street art is everywhere. Some is dark and aggressive while other times it’s quite beautiful.
