Above is another photo of the winter waters of Duffins Creek, north of Pickering , Ontario. It seems the creek had frozen solid to the bottom recently, as water was flowing over the ice in many places. This scene caught my attention as the sun revealed interesting aqua tones in the ice beneath the surface. The ice had tilted slightly, causing a bit of an ebb, or backflow, and created this wave… Read More

Generally, titles for my photos come fairly easily. Not so in this case. I looked at the photo over and over and nothing seemed appropriate. It’s also a fairly tall composition, which I have stayed away from, unless absolutely necessary. After a while of looking at the elements, I thought, “This looks like a carnival, with all the bright colours mixing together.” This is a hillside along one of the Secord Conservation… Read More

The final installment of my raindrops in fall series, for this year. This photo was made a few seconds before my “Unexpected Beauty” image. The difference is really the background. I knew it had potential for a great photo, but conditions and lighting were never quite right… Read More

Spring has been slow to arrive in southern Ontario this year and my thoughts wandered back to November, when I stopped at Burleigh Falls to make a few long exposure photos of the falls there. At this particular time of year I basically have the place to… Read More

I made this photo a few years ago while travelling to Montreal with my wife and her cousins from California. We spent a day touring Prince Edward County and decide to stay the night in Belleville, Ontario. When looking for a good local restaurant, we were directed to “The Boathouse” restaurant, which sits on Belleville’s harbour. The food was amazing and our stay timed out just right to see the sunset.  As… Read More
