“August Blooms” – Picton, Ontario

“Summer winds down and the landscape switches palettes once more” – Ed Lehming
It’s hard to believe that we are now past mid-August, but the signs are everywhere; the days have gotten noticeably shorter, the evenings a bit cooler and damper, and the wildflowers that were blooming just a few weeks ago are gone, replaced by the late summer sunflowers and black-eyed Susans.
There is also a very noticeable change in the colors along my walking route. Pinks, whites, and purples are now replaced with bold orange and yellow. The late summer sun seems to bring out these hues so very nicely. It makes me a bit sad to think only a few more weeks of longer days and warm sunshine remain. I’ll miss it, but am hopeful for a repeat performance.
