“Solitude gives birth to the original in us, to beauty unfamiliar and perilous – to poetry. But also, it gives birth to the opposite: to the perverse, the illicit, the absurd.”

About Mann’s quotation. It sounds contradictory in translation, but isn’t in the original, because there’s only one German term for solitude and loneliness.
It does at that. Einsamkeit translates literally to being alone. English splits them up. I had not considered that. Yet, the contradiction makes it effective as well.
Beautifully lit shot.
Interesting quote – and lovely photograph. I enjoyed the combination.
Indeed. The quote struck a chord with me.
